This medication is used as an adjunct with diet changes and exercise in treating primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol level in the blood) or mixed dyslipidemia (elevations in Low Density Lipoprotein cholesterol and triglyceride levels, often accompanied by low levels of HDL cholesterol).

Directions for use
This medicine is mostly taken orally once or twice a day with a glass of water, with or without food. The dosage is dependent on the age, condition, and its severity. Please consult your doctor before use.

Precautions
- Please use cautiously if you have a history of alcohol abuse.
- Please use cautiously if you have hepatic (liver) impairment or disease.
- Please use cautiously if you have muscle weakness or disorders.
- Please use cautiously if you have hypothyroidism (decreased activity of thyroid gland).
- Please use cautiously if you have renal (kidney) impairment or diabetes

When not to use

How To Use
- Take simvastatin by mouth with food as directed by the doctor.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water.
- Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.
- If you are using the liquid form of simvastatin, take it on an empty stomach.
- Shake the bottle well for at least 20 seconds before each dose.
- Carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon.
- Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose.
- Take simvastatin regularly to get the most benefit from it.
- To help remember, take simvastatin at the same time.
- Quantity is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
- Do not increase your quantity or take this product more often than directed.

Do not increase the quantity than prescribed by the doctor. If the condition persists or worsens, or if you think you may have a serious medical problem, get medical help right away. - Take Atorvastatin precisely as directed by your doctor.
- The dosage is determined by your health condition, age as well as your reaction to treatment.
- Swallow the tablet with water.
- Do not crush, chew or break the tablet.
- Do not discontinue taking Atorvastatin without first consulting your doctor.
Expert Advice
- Take with or without meals.
- Take medicine at the same time each day.
- Contact prescriber if unrelieved diarrhea (watery stools), fever, unusual muscle cramps, weakness, mood changes, memory changes, yellowing of skin or eyes, easy bruising or bleeding or unusual fatigue (weakness).
- Take a missed dose as soon as you remember, unless it is likely the time of next dose. Do not double the dose.
